Alison joined Davis & Harman in 2006 as a part-time law clerk while receiving her LL.M. at Georgetown University Law Center. She became a full-time associate in 2007. At Davis & Harman, Alison works on a wide range of issues in the field of insurance taxation—including variable and fixed annuities, life insurance contracts, BOLI and COLI arrangements, and IRAs. Her practice encompasses the design, implementation and compliance of insurance products; tax treatment of separate accounts, including issues such as diversification and investor control; and withholding and reporting issues related to life insurance contracts, annuity contracts, and IRAs. Alison has also worked with the tax treatment of structured settlement and factoring transactions, and section 529 plans.

"Life insurance and annuities continue to be a growing area of the financial products industry," says Alison Peak. "I enjoy working with clients to develop insurance products as they evolve."

Graduating with the highest GPA in her LL.M. tax program, Alison made the decision to join Davis & Harman because of its collegial environment and outstanding reputation in the field of insurance taxation.

Alison received her J.D., cum laude, from the Washington College of Law at American University—where she was a Line Editor for the Journal of Gender and Social Policy. A native of Kansas, she enjoys playing golf and tennis, walking her dog, and traveling.
