Davis & Harman Partner, Kent Mason, was featured in a Pensions & Investments article titled, “American Benefits Council Urges IRS to Publish Key Retirement Plan Data During Shutdown,” where he noted the Council’s concern about the IRS’s delay in releasing updated contribution limits and other key retirement-related updates during the federal government shutdown.
In the article, Mason and Lynn Dudley, Vice President of Global Retirement and Compensation Policy at the American Benefits Council, are quoted discussing how the timely publication of updated information is essential for plans to be ready to operate in the new year. Mason commented that the Treasury Department and IRS are aware of the issues raised by the Council, however, it is unclear when the issues will be resolved.
The Council is quoted saying:
“[t]here are many pressures on the government during the shutdown. . . [o]ur purpose in writing is to highlight a need that should be highlighted for our older Americans who deserve the best information so that they can retire with the security they have earned.”
